Yakitori Japoneses

The world of Japanese food is fascinating and I find quite interesting to let people know that there’s life after sushi and raw fish. For me, one of the better dishes of Japanese cuisine is Yakitori.

Yakitori are, basically, chicken and veggies skewers with Yakitori sauce. They are delicious, fast to cook and perfect for those who want to start to know different culture and flavours.

Yakitori Japoneses

(English) YAKITORI

  • Serves: 2
  • Level: 6 skewers

Ingredients

  • 250 grams chopped chicken breasts
  • ½ red pepper
  • Shiitake mushrroms
  • 3 Spring Onion Leaves
  • Black Pepper
  • Salt

SAUCE

  • 60 milliliters soya sauce
  • 60 milliliters cooking sake
  • 30 milliliters mirin
  • 1 tbsp. Brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Mix the sauce ingredients into a saucepan and bring them to a boil. Let the sauce reduce (medium heat).
  2. Take off the heat and let it cool.
  3. Chop the pepper and the spring onion leaves.
  4. Add salt and pepper to the chicken.
  5. Take off the stipe and cut the mushrooms in halves.
  6. Make the yakitori alternating the ingredients in the bamboo skewers.
  7. Put the yakitori in a heated grill and spread some sauce. Turn them around constantly so they don’t burn and cook them until brown.
