We’ve had a couple of days of holiday here in Madrid so I decided to go to my mother’s village in Cáceres. The landscapes and the nature there are amazing and the food and gastronomy from the place is one of the most incredible things they have.
So I couldn’t miss the chance to buy some cheeses and try them and write a post about them.
1- QUEVAL: that one is a delicious 1-kilo hard cheese elaborated with sheep milk. You can choose between three different types: with olive oil, with a wax crust or with a natural crust (edible). My favourite is the third one.
2- VIEJO MAESTRO: the most famous cheese in Extremadura is Torta del Casar. But you have more that this cheese in Casar. For example this one, Viejo Maestro that smells like the artisan traditional goat cheese and has a soft creamy flavour that you’ll love. P.S: Try it with onion jam.
3- VERATINO: elaborated with goat milk and cured with traditional Spanish paprika from La Vera region. You can’t ask for more.
